Collagen Induction Therapy.

Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation treatment that penetrates the skin’s surface with tiny needles to create microinjuries, which stimulate new collagen growth. Controlled injuries are a hallmark of most skin rejuvenation treatments, including lasers and chemical peels, because they trigger a wound-healing response that kick-starts natural cellular regeneration.

This popular procedure has a host of benefits, from improving sun damage to scars. More specifically, it can help:

  • smooth lines and wrinkles

  • even skin tone (including dark spots and stubborn melasma)

  • minimize large pores

  • subtly firm the skin

  • fade stretch marks and scars, including acne scars

  • allow topically applied ingredients to absorb better

  • bolster hair loss treatments

HOW DOES MICRONEEDLING WORK?

The pinpricks from microneedling cause slight injury to the skin, and the skin responds by making new collagen-rich tissue.

This new skin tissue is more even in tone and texture. It’s common for the skin to lose collagen with age or injury. By encouraging the skin to make new tissue, additional collagen may help make the skin firmer.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME AFTER MICRONEEDLING?

Microneedling is non-invasive with minimal recovery time. Most clients will have redness for a couple of hours post treatment which is a normal response from the microtrauma created by the needles.  If you’re comfortable, you can return to work or normal daily activities after the procedure. It’s best to allow 24 hours before applying makeup.

Your skin will also be more sensitive to the sun, so be sure to apply your SPF. It is recommended that you wait one full week before exposing your skin to sunlight or harsh chemicals.

After microneedling, your skin works fairly quickly to rejuvenate new tissue. You may see results within a couple of weeks.

You’ll likely need multiple sessions or complementary treatments to maintain the results. Your skin therapist will work with you to develop a plan of action based on your individual skin goals.

MICRONEEDLING AFTERCARE:

Since your skin channels are open and sensitive after your procedure, it’s best to avoid the following during the first week of healing:

  • Sun exposure

  • skin care products with alpha-hydroxy acids and retinol

  • makeup (24 hours post procedure)

  • sweating or excessive exercise

You can help your skin heal after microneedling by:

  • staying hydrated

  • using a hydrating antioxidant serum

  • using cooling masks

  • using collagen-stimulating peptides

  • having LED light therapy

WHO CAN’T HAVE MICRONEEDLING?

  • Severely inflamed skin conditions, such as psoriasis or eczema

  • have open wounds or active acne

  • have had chemotherapy recently

  • have a history of keloid scarring

  • pregnant woman

With all skin needling treatments you will get great results from each treatment however we do recommend multiple treatments for best results spaced 3-4 weeks apart.
